Model Room

After brainstorming and making moodboards I started expanding the project and making the first standard mistakes in Maya for example making instead of duplicated objects multple different ones this would cause allot of backtracking during the finnalize faze of the UV-mapping and texturing of the models. I started with a cube shaped object and used mostly the extrude tool, I thought the best way to make models is to make them completly out of one reshaped cube, this would cause allot of problems later with the UVs because my models were filled with polygons and uneven edges so later I remade some models and made them out of multple objects and then combined the meshes. This would help me optimaze my room allot more and far easier to attach materials to the objects later on!

Tools used: Unity version 6000.0.56.f1, Maya 3D modeling.

Description: This project was dedicated for Universaty where I made a 3D model room that would fit the theme of my choosing the only rules for this project where to make it in Maya without importing assets, then texture it in substance painter 3D, and finnally import it into Unity to bake the lightning. The theme I chose was pirates so I focused on making a mood board around this theme to brainstorm my idea and build from there.

Here you can see the room fully modeled in Maya and with added materials, to optimaze the project I tried to add as many materials and UV-maps together this would ensure to help the runtime and loadtime, because instead of each model having its own map to load in multiple models would have the same material to load in which is way lighter and faster in Unity. Just make sure to give the materials a proper name and delete materials that are not used at all when you import it into a package for Unity building.
